Over the past week, the Iba community in Lagos witnessed a remarkable transformation as more than 150 residents, both young and elderly, were equipped with practical digital skills through the TechUpNaija: Iba Edition, a three-day training initiative spearheaded by Seraph Public Relations and Media in partnership with Othello Institute of Technology, Avalanche, and hosted by the Oniba of Iba Kingdom.

The program spanned June 16th, 18th, and 20th, taking place at both the Oniba’s Palace and the Iba LCDA ICT Centre, focused on social media marketing, basic computer literacy, Canva design, and cybersecurity awareness, all tailored for small business owners, jobseekers, and community entrepreneurs.

At the grand finale on June 20th, distinguished guests were in attendance to witness the impact firsthand such as His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sulaimon Adeshina Raji (Ashade I) and the Queen of Iba Kingdom, Olori Abike Adeshina. Also in attendance are Mr. Foluso Balogun, CEO, Jazz Again, Hon. Taju Surajudeen, Member, Lagos House of Assembly (Ojo II), and Kappo Samuel, SSA to the Lagos State Governor on Tertiary Education.

Throughout the sessions, participants shared powerful reflections:

Abibat Olamide said,

“I want to sincerely thank the tutors, organizers, and the king. I learnt a lot, especially about Canva and marketing. It’s opened my mind to new ideas for my business.”

Owolabi Aderemi, a local trader, added:

“At first I had doubts when I saw the flier. But I gave it a shot and I’m glad I did. What I’ve learnt will help me promote my goods better.”

Balogun Aishat praised the facilitators,

“The sessions were so insightful. I’ve always wanted to improve my digital knowledge, and this was broken down in a way I could understand.”

In his closing remarks, Judah Kolawole, Director of Seraph Public Relations and Media, emphasized the heart behind the project:

“This is not just a training, it’s part of a bigger mission to empower Africans, reshape how we see ourselves, and rewrite how the world sees us. We’re telling a new story about Africa, one skill at a time.”

Judah Kolawole, Director of Seraph Public Relations and Media

He added that Seraph PR is committed to using media, education, and strategic storytelling to challenge stereotypes and champion Africans success stories. Participants who demonstrated exceptional performance and consistency were celebrated with tech gifts (including laptops), cash prizes and tech training scholarships to support their digital journeys.
